Why I created Rosacea Diary for iOS

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a skin condition that causes redness, visible blood vessels, and bumps. What's perhaps most cruel about this is that there is no known cure. However, patients can often manage the condition by carefully tracking their medication, lifestyle, and nutrition.

How can I help myself and others?

As a Rosacea patient myself, I have experienced significant suffering throughout my life. We may have even met in the past without you noticing anything wrong with me, or we may have met when I had large red spots on my face that caused me discomfort at the time.

In fact, many Rosacea patients suffer from social anxiety and depression.

A few months ago, I decided to build an app that would help me keep track of my progress and ultimately identify triggers that I could avoid to further control my Rosacea.

What does the app do?

The app is fairly straightforward. It provides an interface for taking a selfie, inputting any medication you've applied, and checking any triggers that you may have been exposed to throughout the day.

There's plenty more to say about developing this app, both from an engineering and a patient's perspective. I'll be using my blog to share more about my experience.

Lastly, one thing that has always fascinated me about building apps for the iOS platform is the fact that an application can be installed on billions of devices with the potential to change people's lives.

With Rosacea Diary, I hope to do exactly that: create something beautiful and useful that can help other patients improve their quality of life, even if it's just a little bit.

Rosacea Diary for iOS is available in the App Store for iOS 15 and newer.
